THE US GOVERMENT REBUILT THE ENTIRE SHIP IN 2021!! SHE LOOKS LIKE #10!...INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO: ENGINES, GEARS AND GENERATORS WERE TAKEN OUT, REBUILT, PAINTED AND REINSTALLED. LAZERETE WAS COMPLETLY TAKEN APART, REBUILT AND PAINTED. THE ENTIRE BILGE WAS CLEANED AND PAINTED. IF ANYTHING DID NOT WORK THEY FIXED IT. HULL BOTTOM WAS LOOKED AT, GUAGED AND MANY NEW BOTTOM PLATES WERE INSTALLED. SHE IS READY FOR ANOTHER 55 YEARS OF DEPENDABLE SAILING!

Primary Internal Compartments

• Pilothouse: The command center where watchstanders man the helm, throttle, and navigation equipment.
• Berthing Compartment: A single shared sleeping area located below the pilothouse with "racks" (bunks) for 11 to 14 sailors.
• Galley: A complete food preparation room featuring storage and cooking facilities.
• Crew Lounge: A common area used for training, meetings, and entertainment.
• Head/Shower Room: A combined washroom facility that includes a shower.
• Laundry Room: A small space equipped with a clothes washer and dryer for the crew.
• Engine Rooms (2): These vessels feature two separate engine rooms divided by a watertight bulkhead to provide redundancy in case of damage.
• IC Passageway: An interior communications passageway that contains the main electrical switchboard and provides access to the engine rooms.

  • Cargo Deck: An open area of roughly 1,850 square feet used to transport tanks, vehicles, or up to 400 troops.
