Sultana was built at the Feadship yard of De Vries in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands. Launched at the beginning of the “Italian affair” that saw the collaboration between Feadship and Carlo Riva for the build of the Caravelle Series, Sultana (originally M/Y Din Dina) were delivered to their Italian Owners in 1969. Sultana has carried previous names including Peer Gynt, Din-Dina, Lady Marina, Bandol and Galleon.
The major rebuild of the Sultana was successfully completed in summer 2012 at Feadship’s yard in Makkum. The extensive project was carried by the dedicated Feadship refit department in close cooperation with the owner’s team. The briefing of the rebuild was as follows:
- Maintain the yacht’s classic feel and pedigree
- Create a platform for comfortable cruising and entertainment
- Make optimum use of the outside areas both on the main deck and the sundeck
- Fit in a new interior for the owners, guests and the crew in a simple, warm and contemporary style
- Install a multifunctional power generation and storage system using main engine driven alternators and batteries in combination with the diesel generators. This would allow silent overnight stays while at anchor and optimize fuel consumption levels
- Restore the existing Gardner main engines to be the engine room gems they were originally
Following a sale in early 2021, Sultana underwent a series of further significant refits at Monaco Marine Beaulieu, to bring her into pristine condition for her new owner. Technically, her Gardner engines were once again rebuilt, a new generator was fitted, her lithium batteries were replaced, her sundeck received new teak, and she underwent a full repaint. Her interiors also were overhauled with a new enclosed galley being installed, a full laundry room fitted, new access to the master cabin giving space for a private crew space on the bridge, all new carpets and wall linings, along with a new AV system throughout with Starlink. Sultana now represents an opportunity to purchase a truly turn-key classic yacht in pristine condition throughout.
