Based on a new hull design with a long waterline and moderate beam and freeboard, the 445 has excellent performance potential. The hull form is optimized to provide the gentle, predictable motion underway, which is so appreciated in other Catalina models.
The deck is strikingly handsome with a low profile cabin structure, twin helm stations and a roomy cockpit with tall, secure, comfortable coamings and a cockpit table that seats 4-6. The deck is finished with a traditional diamond-patterned non-skid.
The owner’s cabin is forward for privacy and optimum ventilation. Private head access from the forward cabin along with an electric head and separate shower complete the forward cabin arrangement. The guest cabin is aft with a large comfortable double berth, angled for easy access and greater headroom.
This design incorporates an innovative cabin on the port side. This cabin is a flexible space that can easily be converted to whatever your cruising style dictates at the time – sleeping quarters, storage, or a work room with a bench. One can create an additional double berth and single bunk without tools or additional parts, this is a great flex space for the extended cruiser.
The interior is constructed of teak and teak veneers, hand-finished with durable clear varnishes, highlighting the natural beauty of fine woods. She has a large U-shaped dinette to port. This offers versatile dining table that converts from full dining size to cocktail dimensions with fold in leaves. Aft of the dinette is the L-shaped galley. There is a convertible split settee and game/cocktail table to starboard. aft of the settee is a forward facing chart table preferred by experienced navigators with dedicated space for PC. She has a composite teak and holly look cabin sole for maintenance free beauty. The second aft head offers an entrance from the guest cabin on starboard as well as at the foot of the companionway steps. Cream colored ultra-leather in the main salon add to her warm but light and inviting interior.
The 445 offers a large L-shaped galley conveniently located on the port side foot of the companionway steps.
