The 1998 Duffy Classic 21 “Butterfly” is a rare opportunity to own one of the most recognizable electric harbor cruisers on the market. Designed for quiet, environmentally friendly boating, the Duffy Classic series is known for its smooth ride, simple operation, and comfortable social layout—making it ideal for harbor cruising, waterfront entertaining, and sunset outings.
“Butterfly” has benefited from significant electrical and mechanical upgrades completed in 2021–2022, including a Lester Summit II Bluetooth charger, a 48-volt battery bank with sixteen US125 batteries, new battery cabling, and an Alltrax motor controller system. These improvements enhance reliability and performance while maintaining the quiet, low-maintenance advantages that make electric boats so appealing for protected waters and marina cruising.
The spacious cockpit comfortably accommodates up to nine guests, with a Surrey top for shade, cockpit table, stereo system, and indirect bar lighting creating an inviting atmosphere for entertaining. Twin rudders and wheel steering provide easy maneuverability around marinas and waterfront restaurants.
“Butterfly” has been boathouse-kept for most of its life in the New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor, helping preserve the vessel’s overall condition. The boat also includes a 2001 Pacific tandem-axle trailer, allowing for convenient transport or storage.
With quiet cruising speeds around 5 knots and a top speed of approximately 7 knots, the Duffy Classic 21 remains one of the best platforms for relaxed electric boating.
Showings are available by appointment.
