A masterpiece of engineering and design, the 29m LA FENICE is more than just a yacht; she is a piece of yachting history. Designed by Laurent Giles Naval Architects and built by Richard Ironworks in 1962, she was originally commissioned by financier Anthony Boyden as the support vessel for Sovereign, his 12-metre challenger for the 1964 America’s Cup. The main requirement was for a comfortable seaworthy craft which would be able to cross the Atlantic and sail to Australia under her own steam.
In the mid-80s, she joined the French Navy as a training vessel and was later acquired by photographer Peter Lindbergh in 2001, undergoing a significant refit. Christian Liaigre contributed to her interior design from 2005 to 2016, with his primary input in the 2015/2016 refit, achieving a perfect balance between modern aesthetics and traditional charm with dark wood flooring, paneling, and leather accents. The open-plan layout creates a sense of spaciousness and seamlessly connects the living spaces throughout the yacht’s interior.
The current owner purchased her in 2020 and brought the vessel back to the UK in 2021, undertaking a significant refit between 2021 and 2023. LA FENICE has been expertly restored by her discerning owner.
LA FENICE accommodates up to nine guests in four ensuite staterooms. Her guest accommodation comprises three double staterooms and a triple berth (a double bed and a pullman) for younger guests. Styled in a classic fashion, each stateroom exudes elegance and sophistication with a neutral colour palette and rich wood finishes.
Welded steel hull and Aluminum superstructure.
