Armstrong Bros. Shipyard of Victoria, British Columbia was a respected West Coast builder known for producing rugged wooden commercial vessels designed for the demanding waters of the Pacific Northwest. Built in 1941, PARRY is believed to have originally been launched as TALAPUS, a Royal Canadian Navy Fishermen’s Reserve vessel from Canada’s WWII-era “Gumboot Navy,” before later being renamed and used in government, coastal, charter, and commercial service.

PARRY is an 85’ wood frame, carvel-planked, round-bilge tug conversion with a 20’ beam, 7’6” draft, 11 cabins, 18 berths, 5 heads, 3 showers, full galley, main salon, upper owner/captain quarters, extensive passenger accommodations, large deck spaces, and major onboard systems. She is powered by a Vivian 6-cylinder naturally aspirated diesel rated at 250HP, paired with a straight gear drive and hydraulic clutch. The vessel features freshwater keel cooling, dry stack exhaust, 6” steel shaft, 3-blade bronze propeller, approximately 2,000 gallons of diesel capacity, dual reported Kubota generators, radiator heat throughout, hydraulic anchor winch, AIS, 3 VHF radios, Nobeltec chart plotter, Furuno depth sounder, water maker equipment, and substantial commercial/passenger vessel equipment.

This vessel was previously operated as a near coastal passenger charter and sports fishing platform and was surveyed in April 2023 by Spiller Marine Services for insurance and valuation purposes. The survey described her as a professionally designed and built classic vintage wooden towing vessel converted for passenger accommodation and coastal charter use. PARRY is not a polished production yacht. She is a historic wooden commercial vessel with serious scale, story, systems, and opportunity. Best suited for a knowledgeable buyer looking for a unique West Coast vessel with potential as a coastal adventure platform, work camp accommodation vessel, charter project, liveaboard-style vessel, or long-term restoration and commercial opportunity, subject to inspection, certification, and buyer due diligence.
Boat comes with potential transferable moorage at a low cost at a well-known shipyard. Shipyard able to do all work and repairs on the vessel and has extensive knowledge about the boat.
