Tony Castro founded his studio in Hamble in the early 1980s after completing his BSc in Naval Architecture at Strathclyde and his MSc in Aero/Hydrodynamics at Glasgow. Over 45 years and more than 500 designs, the studio has earned five World Championships and partnerships with Royal Huisman, Oceanco, and Jongert. Today, more than 13,500 yachts built to Castro's designs are sailing the world — from the SB20 sportsboat to 60-metre-plus superyachts built at Lurssen. In 1984 he designed one of the first vessels to carry the superyacht designation — a detail that places the studio at the origin of the industry as we know it today. When the Anemos platform program was presented to Tony Castro Yacht Design, the studio took the brief in one direction - away from convention. X-style window lines on the profile, and a light, airy interior with brass accents and natural wood where the market expects dark and heavy.
